To Be Admired By Others

“…to be admired by others” (Matthew 6:1, NLT)

What drives me? How much of what I do is motivated by wanting to please men, to be admired by them, to gain their respect, if not accolades? What would happen if I took the task at hand and did it as service to God? What if, when I finished my task I said, “Here Dad, this is what I did for you”?

Picture a young child, working so hard, to draw a picture for his dad. When he’s drawing, is he thinking “Will this go viral?” Or is he seeing the smile on his father’s face as he admires the picture?

Father help me to see your smile in all that I do today.
