Led By “Likes”?

We all want approval. Validation. Acknowledgement out loud that we matter. At least I know I do.

And now, with technology, social media, and a myriad of platforms, I can seek it and measure it instantaneously. So I cater to the crowd. I post and I monitor. “What got the most likes? How can I do more of that?”

I lose myself in a sea of “likes,” or, even worse, complete silence from my audience. Until I realize the words of the Teacher, “But as I looked at everything I had worked so hard to accomplish, it was all so meaningless—like chasing the wind.” (Ecclesiastes 2:11, NLT)

Jesus modeled a much more meaningful way. He let the Father lead and got His direction from Him, regardless of the crowd’s desires.

Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray.” (Mark 1:35, NLT)

Father, help me to find my approval and security in you alone. I want you to lead and guide me today.
