Despite smiling, happy Facebook posts, we’ve had our share of struggles.
Working at connecting with others and establishing new friendships, especially for an introvert, can seem as daunting as running a marathon. Moving yet again to a new city and a new state is especially wearing on someone who likes routine and stability. Dealing with various health issues just adds to the challenges. I could go on. Maybe you can too.
It seems for every step we take forward we slide two steps back. Some struggles and hardships could be our own doing, others, maybe not.
Yet through all this (the challenges in my personal life and in the world around me), I’m learning darkness does not mean hopelessness. God is amazing in what he can do. And it doesn’t need to take a long time.
As bad as Ahaz was and as dark a time as he led Judah into, all was not lost. In fact, Hezekiah his son, started an amazing transformation for the entire kingdom (In the very first month of the first year of his reign, Hezekiah reopened the doors of the Temple of the Lord and repaired them.” 2 Chronicles 29:3, NLT).
In one month!
The trial may seem unbearably long. The situation may look impossible to overcome. And yet, in an instant, God can bring change. Stay faithful. Keep following. And watch what He will do.
And Hezekiah and all the people rejoiced because of what God had done for the people, for everything had been accomplished so quickly. (2 Chronicles 29:36, NLT)
